WORD ON THE STREET ………………………….SUMMER 2006
JUNE
June really is for weddings. I just spoke to Adefemi Adejumo and he tells me that
he finally tied the knot June 10 th . and married his lovely bride Gbemi.
Congratulations and much happiness to both of them.
The next news I think we were all notified of, but just in case you deleted the email
from IFMA, Yvonne Holland’s new position with CB Richard Ellis is as Account
Lead for HSBC. Great move!!! This way she can also still run the Asset
Management Group, which of course is her own company.
Now, speaking of CBRE, Lena Malone just called to tell me that she has jumped from
O&Y to CBRE, to be Manager of Facility Services for R.B.C. and Symcor. This means
that she and Yvonne will be both be working at 18 King Street East. You can reach Lena
at 416-775-3986 or Lena.Malone@cbre.com.
We lucked out again last night at the race track. There were about 70 of us
and I think we all had a great time. Some won money and some lost. That’s the
way it goes.
A little sad note. I found out that Judith Tranter from Cadillac Fairview is leaving
us in August to go home to England. I shall miss her, she was one of those
members that hardly ever missed a meeting. I wish her the best.
Judith is being replaced by Ivolyn McFarlane who is manager of Office Services &
Telecommunications. I met Ivolyn at the racetrack with Judith last night. She will
be taking over Judith’s membership in August. We welcome her.
JULY
I am doing some part time work at DCA, Inc. an Interior Design firm of a very old
acquaintance of mine. Loving it!
It seems I am not the only one changing jobs. We keep losing members because
they are losing their jobs. What is going on.
There are some internal changes going on at Groupe Lacasse. Jane Catcher who
was their showroom manager, is now their A& D rep. They had been bugging her
to do that for a long time. So now, our old friend, Audrey Frieden is their new.showroom manager. Great job for a great person! For those of you that don’t
remember, Audrey worked in that same position for years, at Haworth. I wish her
and Jane all the best. Great team!!!
August
So, now we are all looking forward to the golf Tournament.
And a grand day it was!!! We could not have asked for better weather, especially
since rain had been a 60% possibility. Not up at Station Creek. My goodness it is
so beautiful up there. I hope everyone enjoyed themselves as much as they looked
like they were.
So, here I am parked in the 2 nd spot on the front lot with this great big huge 4 x 4
thing beside me. Over shadowing my little Corolla. Guess whose windshield got
hit with a golf ball??? MINE. I could not believe it. Anyway, I called Speedy the
next day and they came to my condo and fixed it. Thank god the club is paying for
most of it.
Thanks again to all our sponsors for their great support!!!
Congratulations to Michael Riseborough on getting his C.F.M. designation.
Michael is the Building & Facility Maintenance person at the G.T.A.A.
